Ultrasound Treatments in Aesthetics: How the Main Technologies Differ

What “ultrasound treatment” means in aesthetics

Ultrasound uses sound waves above the range of human hearing. In medicine, ultrasound can be used for imaging and therapeutic energy delivery. The aesthetic treatment machines discussed here use ultrasound to deliver therapeutic energy rather than primarily to create diagnostic images.

Safety depends on the exact ultrasound technology

Therapeutic ultrasound is non-invasive, but it is not risk-free. The FDA notes that ultrasound body-contouring procedures can cause pain or discomfort, redness, swelling, blisters, burns, and nerve damage.
